Hey guys,
I know I haven't been around a lot, but I've been lurking a bunch and promise I've kept up with you guys. I've had a rough workload this year so I haven't been around a lot. I've done a lot of content consuming, but I'm ready to try my hand at a little more Oppo posts, seems like a good way to write and have a little fun. My first feature should be up next week if nothing else comes up this weekend.
So, the biggest news is I got my license (!!!) on November 12 th , and I've been driving my family's 2009 MINI Cooper. It's pretty much base, except for Bluetooth and iPod connectivity. Yes, base does mean it's a stick - 6-speed box made by Getrag. It's the car I've learned on so I'm used to it and enjoy it a lot. I drove my sister's car last week, an automatic Ford Focus. Let's just say I wanted the MINI back. It feels so much more analogue, and I love it. The other thing I noticed was that the Focus's steering felt way too easy. It felt pretty over-boosted, especially compared with the MINI's.
The first car I will actually own myself will probably be turned over to me in January or late December. It's a 1999 SAAB 9-3 3 door hatchback, with a 5-speed (keeping the Manuél streak alive.) I'll be sad that I will not be driving the MINI, but it will be fun to have a car I don't have to share and that I can play with, lightly/tastefully modify and enjoy. It's not nice enough I wouldn't want to toss it around a track for the weekend, but it's nice enough I want to take really good care of it. If you can't tell, I'm ready for it! It'll be a gift from my grandparents, who are moving to Seattle (I'm in Indianapolis and they are in West Lafayette) and don't really want to have to sell it, and I'm willing! It'll stay my car, and I'm going to keep it as long as I can.
So that's what's new with me. How's the rest of Oppo doing?
I own dead car brands only
